Universe: Blaze
A small grey cultivation world at the dim edge of the Loom — and the vantage from which the Loom of Heavens is first seen.
Blaze is a xianxia cultivation universe and one of the frontier stitches of the Loom. It also holds the master frame: the Loom itself is first seen from here, in the prologue.
The world
A small grey planet hangs at the dim edge of the Loom — thin qi, shallow seas, tied to the rest of creation by only four faint golden threads of space. Its sects reach no higher than Spirit Gathering, with rare Foundation Forging elders at the heads of the great city walls. A backwater, worth no second glance — except for a destiny about to be born on it.
Key locations
- Scarlet City — the main city; concentric wards from a red-tiled crown down to the merchant districts, craftsman wards, tenements, and the Slums on the eastern flank beyond a dry, bone-littered moat.
- The Waterfall Cave — where the protagonist is swept over the falls and finds the pearl that ignites his road.
- The Dead Mountains — a lifeless range where Skolar's veiled avatar sits and waits.
- The Sky Sect compound — a white-walled sect on the highest hill, whose true headquarters sits on a different continent.
Power systems
Blaze runs on the standard nine-realm qi-gathering ladder (see The Nine Realms). Its rare road, however, is the Blaze Tempering — a secret body-cultivation path that does not store qi in the dantian but consumes it, igniting it at the solar plexus and burning impurities out through the skin as slag. Each of its forty layers doubles raw strength, density, and durability. Its bearer reads to any standard test as an ordinary mortal with disconnected meridians — invisible by design.
Key characters
- Rin — the protagonist; a red-haired former slum orphan, born meridian-defective, and for that reason the perfect vessel for the Blaze Tempering. He does not know that a Primordial God has chosen his trajectory.
- Skolar — the Primordial God who watches Rin from a veiled avatar. (See the Spine.)
- Whiteflame — a hunted body-cultivation master who scattered his dying soul into a hundred blood-drops across the Loom; one drop seeds Rin's road.
- Violet — scout, knife-thrower, Rin's mentor and love interest, who vanishes after a massacre and leaves a letter he cannot yet read.
