The Nine Realms
The nine-realm ladder of cultivation — the known ascent from a mortal's first breath of qi to the severed godhood of a Primordial God.
The Nine Realms are the known ascent of cultivation across the Loom — the ladder a mortal climbs from the first sense of qi to godhood. Every cultivation stitch names its own rungs differently, and few worlds chart the whole climb, yet the pattern beneath the names is the same across the weave.
The mountain beyond the mountain never ends — but the ladder up its face has nine rungs, and only a handful of beings have ever set foot on the last.
The ladder
- Spirit Gathering — the first sense and draw of qi.
- Foundation Forging — body, meridians, and dantian wrought into a vessel.
- Core Condensation — qi worked into a permanent core.
- Soul Expansion — the soul widened and spiritual sense sharpened; the heaviest karma threads begin to glow.
- Void Stepping — a small inner world opens, and travel between stitches becomes possible for the first time.
- Heaven Harmonizing — the inner world expands into an inner galaxy.
- Divine Seed — an inner universe takes seed; the cultivator masters at least one Dao.
- Dao Divinity — godhood, scaled to the number of Daos mastered.
- Primordial God — the peak, in which all ten primordial Daos fuse into the being, who then stands outside any single universe.
The threshold of Void Stepping
The fifth rung is the first that matters to the shape of the Loom. Below Void Stepping a cultivator is bound to a single stitch; at Void Stepping a small inner world opens, and with it the capacity to walk a thread of space between universes. Nearly every world charted in the wiki sits far below this line. The sects of Blaze reach no higher than the first rung, with rare Foundation Forging elders at the heads of their city walls.
The price of the ninth realm
Completing the ninth realm exacts a severance. The moment all ten primordial Daos fuse, every thread of space binding the new god to their home universe snaps at once, and they rise alone into the empty between-place above the Loom. A Primordial God is exiled by their own ascension. Across all the eras of all creation, only a handful have ever reached the ninth realm at all — Skolar among them.
Theories & resonances
Other universes may not count nine rungs, yet their ladders climb toward the same door. Yunus names its steps Qi Condensation, Foundation, Core Formation, Hegemon, Monarch, and Autarch, with Autarchs said to create galaxies and roam between worlds — a mapping onto the upper rungs here. Whether every world's ladder is the same ascent under a local name, or merely a resonance the wiki has noticed, remains an open thread.

Which rung, exactly, a soul must reach before the lid of its sky can no longer hold it; whether a bodiless or non-standard cultivator can climb the full ladder at all; how many of the handful who reached the ninth realm still endure in the between-place, and whether any has ever found a way back down.
